Running in silent mode for a bit y'all. I need to take a hiatus, mental health just wont let me do the socials without an immense amount of baggage with it.

I look back over my timeline and its slipped from my normal posting to a gripe fest.

This is temporary, i need to remember its temporary, and to alleviate projecting that bile into the void, i'll just take a hiatus and reset.

If there are any mod issues that crop up in the mean time, i'll still respond but treat me as AFK otherwise. <3

Also, and relatedly, how did I not know about this vertically-oriented large-scale open-source CNC router design? 😍

The reviewers of said app store will likely never give a shit about my little utility, and to make matters worse, having an actual security audit of the application would have yielded a better user experience and would be infintely more helpful to my users than doing a dance around apparmor and trying to convince reviewers that i need what i'm asking for.

not to be the developer version of "get software x to work or i'll uninstall linux" - because that level of idle threat never impressed anyone... but i'm really getting put off by gatekeeping and app stores as a whole

and people wonder why we do shit like "just sudo curl this to bash". When your software user experience relies on gatekeepers that wont invest as much time as you have, in trying to understand your goals, when you've spent weeks understanding their software ecosystem, you get burnout rates, and those devs dont look back at your package format

its a damn shame really

xpost from work chat:

why is packaging software getting harder?
did we learn nothing?

When a closed-source app posts an update with a changelog consisting of merely the line "Bug fixes and stability improvements" it comes across primarily as:

$ git branch | wc -l

yeah, this is starting to get out of hand...

neil cicierega's "300MB" but it's about how large this kubernetes binary is

all masculinity is not bad! masculinity is not inherently bad! masculinity is valid!!

there are people -- cis, trans, and otherwise -- who are doing masculinity SO RIGHT. and i love them.

they will be the ones that heal it. encourage them. you don't have to be masculine to help. and never discourage someone from being who they are.

if masculinity is not for you, don't shit on it. there are masculine people trying to live their lives.

It's been about 9 months since I deleted my Facebook account. I missed it for the first 6 or so but, now, I'm just glad to be rid of it.
