Chuck aka "lazyPower" @chuck

I've done enough cloud level I think i'm ready to bite off a big network project.

I lost power again today and had to spend 20 minutes recovering my AP setup. I'm sure its just a buggy series of releases but this really sucks.

Whats the feesibility of an project, using as AP's and just retooling this whole thing to work on , , nix based ?

I think the idea has some legs, and i may spend some time speccing it out.

@chuck Solar panels and battery packs can't get here fast enough.

@chuck My pineapple can get a bit hot with extended use so it might have trouble as a permanent AP. A #RaspberryPi with two wifi interfaces is another option.

Then again, if you specifically want #OpenBSD that might limit the hw options.

@chuck Nano is what I’ve got though if I’d known it doesn’t do 5GHz I might have sprung for the Tetra.

@mkb my thoughts were to pick up a tetra and print a new case with some heat syncs as well. Maybe add a fan if it dictates it. But i did notice the nano getting hot next to me while tethered over USB for a couple hours.

@chuck I’ve been tempted by Tetra as a home basestation myself. Still I wonder if the same money on less specialized hardware might yield better signal.

I used my Nano for extended sessions while on a cruise ship. It never malfunctioned but the temperature did make me nervous once or twice. Heat sinks and/or fan would make a world of difference on either version, I’m sure.
